Primarily intended for sewage inlet works, step screens are a carpet type of screening systems for separating suspended solids. They are designed to handle large flow rates of sewage or process flows with small head loss, low energy consumption and minimal maintenance.
Water flow approaches the step screen along with solid screenings with it. The solid screenings are retained on the screen which form a carpet by time. The carpet creates an additional filtering effect and helps to filter increasingly finer particles. As soon as the level difference between upstream and downstream reaches to the predetermined point, the cycle automatically starts to clean the screen. During the cycle, steps move upwards and mobile lamella lifts the screenings onto the next step until the screenings reach the discharge point.

With a commitment to innovation and excellence, Adroit has established itself as a trusted name in the water and wastewater treatment industry.
At Adroit, we take pride in delivering high-performance, durable, and cost-effective solutions that cater to the evolving needs of municipal and industrial water treatment sectors. Here we will showcase how the Multi Rake Bar Screen works, its application, features, and more.
Multi-rake Mechanical Bar Screen is the equipment used in the preliminary level of water & wastewater treatment to mechanically remove coarse and fine floating waste & solids from the flow to prevent damage and clogging of downstream equipment and piping. It consists of rake bars connected to a rotating chain. As water flows, the rake bars lift and move the trash to the top of the discharge chute for extraction. This screen is designed for screening flow entering treatment plants, pumping stations, stormwater outfalls, or industrial settings. The filtration, bar thickness, material of construction, and number of rakes are chosen according to the type and quantity of material and considering the depurative process scheme adopted.
The equipment is composed of a screen with a spacing that can vary from 3mm to 100 mm. The screenings are lifted, transported upwards, and discharged using rakes, that are suitable for cleaning the filtration area. Rakes are guided by a chain drive system that engages the rakes and moves in a continuous loop. The chain drive system at the bottom does not have any bearings/mechanical components submerged by the raw water allowing unobstructed operation.
